Hi Kazm -thanks for your input. Yesm as I said, there's a vast universe of resources out there and there's only so much time to explore them all. I would love to and hope to do another workshop on all this some time. Meanwhile, email me if you have any questions. I'm happy you took away some useful info from the session ~Best --Sean
I also found the workshop interesting and well organized. Sorry for my ignorance, but I have a question regarding the USB drive, what is a U3 system?thanks, Esti
The U3 system is a program on the USB drive that is supposed launch programs that are resident on the drive. Sandisk came up with it and bundled some programs that you can automatically launch within the drive when it plugs into a PC. You can also set up the launcher to run other programs you add --such as those portable apps put on by we on the Teach-IT Organizing committee.
Note though, you do not need to use the launcher or the U3 system. You can just open the folder containing the port-apps and run them yourself. Actually, I wasn't aware when I created the disc image and handed it off to some others for mass duplication that it would be put on a Sandisk drive with the U3 system otherwise I might've linked them to the launcher-- ~best! --Seantm
thank you Sean! it was a good intro to all that is available. I am going to explore a couple of resources you've showed me. thanks for all your hard work putting together this informative workshop. beatrice
I thought you were well prepared and I liked your energy and enthusiasm. Content-wise, I had already been introduced to a number of the free-aps you shared with us and I was hoping to get a lot of new ones and/or dig deeper into some of the ones I know. I know it's hard to get too much done in an hour... Anyway, thank you for all your hard work!
Thank you Edna, yes -it's always a challenge to determine what to cover and how deep to go. In this workshop I went with quantity over quality --in terms of digging deeper--because I was told that for most attending it would be a beginner's intro workshop. As it turned out it was a bit of a mixed bag some had heard nothing of these apps others like yourself were further along... Anyway, please do look over the links I've shared --there's good chaance you'll stumble upon new and useful resources --thanks for the feedback --all the best --Sean
